During art week, we posed the question ‘What is Art?’ and asked the children to write down answers. Here are some of their responses?

Shadow Art

This morning Sapphire class have been hitting the streets, mainly the main entrance to the school office, and creating shadow art on the pavement.

They used large jumbo chalk to fill their shadows…just a shame we didn’t have black!

3D Model Art

Yesterday, Sapphire class made 3D sculptures in a pose they chose and then added shadows for effect.

Here are some of their efforts.

Art week – What is Art?

As we move towards the end of the summer term, the focus for this week is art. Today the children are making models from pipe cleaners and tin foil, using their own bodies as the basis for their design. They will also be asked to provide an answer to this question, posed by today’s special guest…What is Art?

Sapphire goes Audio…

Need we say anymore…?

Sapphire Class have embarked on yet another ambitious project! We have chosen some of our favourite picture books and turned them into Audio Book’s.

We hope you enjoy!

A Day in the Life…

Sapphire Class would like to say a…

big,

huge,

THANK YOU!!

To our school governors for taking the time to visit us in class today. With some nifty iPad-ery the children have put together a comic strip style record of their visit…

Pay close attention to the rap at the end..

Today, Sapphire class will be visited by one of the school governors.  This is truly a momentous occasion! Members of our news team will meet and greet them, asking probing questions like ‘Which is your favourite cake? and Why?’  Sapphire class have fun, to the governors…good luck!

We’re Safe Online… Are YOU?!??!!! ;)

As a school, we have been looking at Cyber- Bullying. This happens quite often to children all over the country! Below, you will find some helpful tips on…

STAYING SAFE ONLINE!!!

Stay safe online!

Chatting and Chat Rooms

  • Never give out personal information.

  • Never arrange to meet up with someone.

  • If you see a nasty message, tell a trustworthy adult.

  • When you log onto a forum or chat room, always use a nickname rather than give your real name.

Instant Messaging (IM)

  • If someone adds you to their contact list and you don’t know them, make sure you block them.

  • If you have your own profile on IM, it’s not a good idea to include lots of information about yourself.

  • It’s also not a good idea to have a picture of yourself.

Email

  • It’s a good idea not to reply to a nasty message.

  • Never reply to a spam text message or text message from someone you don’t know.

  • Never send a picture message to anyone you don’t know in the real world.

  • Never give your mobile number to anyone.

  • Never arrange to meet up with someone.

  • Never spend money on the internet.

Blue group literacy – 18.6.13

Your task this lesson is to write a 140 character ‘tweet” review of either your current home reading book OR your favourite ever book. As I am feeling kind I will allow you to put the title of the book and the name of the author (e.g. “War Horse by Michael Morpurgo”) at the top of your post and this DOES NOT count towards your 140 character limit.

In case it wasn’t tricky enough, you must also use “if” and “although” as sentence openers.

Choose your words carefully…
